Our story

Venmony Farm, located in Venmony, Idukki (PIN 685606), Kerala, is devoted to raising healthy pigs with care, responsibility, and innovation.

Our story began in 2013 as a small, conventional pig farm that fed pigs with hotel and poultry waste. In those early years, we faced repeated disease outbreaks, forcing us to reinvest our hard-earned savings time and again.

In August 2022, tragedy struck when African Swine Fever (ASF) was detected in our area. Venmony village was declared infected, and all pigs had to be culled. We lost 450 pigs — including pregnant sows, nursing piglets, growing pigs, and our valuable boars — along with crores of rupees we had invested over the years. Our four dedicated employees also lost their livelihood, and our dreams seemed shattered.

While searching for a new direction, we met Mr. Michael Knoch, a German expert with over 45 years of experience in pig genetics and breeding. He enlightened us about the root cause of our challenges — feeding restaurant and poultry waste — which exposed our animals to recurring diseases.
To our surprise, we also learned from him that in all developed countries around the world, it is strictly illegal to feed pigs or other livestock with restaurant waste or similar materials, due to the high risk of disease transmission.

Guided by his advice, we restarted our farm in April 2023 with a complete shift to compound feeding techniques, focusing on biosecurity, balanced nutrition, and scientific management.

After years of learning, unlearning, and developing better farming methods, we have built an efficient, sustainable, and successful model of pig farming — one that prioritizes animal health, food safety, and long-term growth.

Today, Venmony Farm stands as a symbol of resilience and renewal, committed to producing healthy pigs and inspiring a new generation of responsible pig farmers in Kerala and beyond.
